Duck Stuff: Tuesday Edition

Dale Newton and Charles Fisher take exception to the recent articles suggesting the Ducks are falling off the rails this year.

It’s a tough league so they’ll lose a couple of games, probably. But a 10/11-win season is realistic. If Freeman has the junior year he’s capable of, Prukop shows he can run the offense and Hoke achieves what he’s set out to do with the defense, the Ducks can be very good indeed.

Dale Newton previews the Oct. 1 road game against Washington St.

Pullman is always a tough road trip. The fact that Leach and his staff have 14 full days to dial up preparation makes this a tester for a team with a new quarterback and a revamped defense. The extra healing days ensure the Cougs should be at full strength.

Chantel Jennings previews the Sept. 17 game against Nebraska.

What's at stake for Oregon? The Ducks have two solid nonconference games this year, against Virginia and Nebraska. It would be a huge national statement for Oregon to enter Pac-12 play with an ACC win and a Big Ten win. How many other Power 5 schools would be able to boast something like that?

Dale Newton believes Oregon fans will like Dakota Prukop plus he's smart enough and good enough to win the starting job.

■ ESPN has Oregon on their list of college football teams who have the best uniform.

It’s tough to go against the traditional approach at USC, and the Cougar head from Washington State is among the best logos in all of sports, but Oregon -- at this point more than any other school -- is known for its game-day threads. Love them or hate them, the Ducks turned their uniforms into a recruiting tool and much of the country followed suit...

Ted Miller looks at the Pac-12 backup QB's and talks about Oregon's options.

Montana State graduate transfer Dakota Prukop was widely viewed as the heavy favorite entering spring practices, but redshirt freshman Travis Jonsen apparently kept things interesting. If Jonson wins the job, Prukop gives the Ducks an experienced backup. If Prukop wins the job, you'd guess Jonsen's positive reviews indicate that QB depth isn't as dire as it was in 2015.
