ESPN: Give the Ducks credit for going on the road against the No. 5 team in the country and being in position to win on their final possession. They’ll stay nationally relevant and probably earned some measure of respect. I thought long and hard about keeping them at No. 1, but their loss wasn’t without self-inflicted mistakes -- hence the one-position drop. But their narrow loss at Michigan State gives their 1-1 record plenty of credibility.
■ Mark Helfrich talked to the media last night about the MSU loss and fixing the little things. Podcast is here.
■ Caleb Couturie says not to worry Duck fans, you just have to take it in stride.
■ Marcus Mariota had a record setting day in his debut for the Titans.
■ Dale Newton also says there is no reason to push the panic button.
