Duck Stuff: Thursday Edition

Dale Newton likes the attitude of Vernon Adams as he gets closer to joining the team.

Adams is clearly committed to earning his way and approaching the competition with a mature, team-first attitude. You have to like how clearly he identifies the goal. Get better and win games. All of them. That’s perfect, because in the words of noted sports psychologist Bob Rotella, people with big dreams can accomplish big things.

■ Mark Flores has the latest in recruiting.

■ The ladies softball team cleaned up at the Pac-12 awards yesterday.

Cheridan Hawkins was named pitcher of the year for the second straight season while Jenna Lilley earned freshman of the year recognition as the Pac-12 announced its postseason awards and all-conference teams on Wednesday.

Oregon swept Gonzaga yesterday 2-1 to hold onto their playoff chances at PK Park.

Up Next: The Ducks open a three-game series at Utah on Friday (4 p.m. PT, Pac-12 Networks).
