■ Jason Selby believes the defensive line is ready to push back this year.
The offense is poised to be good this year, but there is some uncertainty without having Marcus Mariota under center. If the defense can hold opponents to under 20 points per game this season, then the Ducks will win the Pac-12 and return to the College Football Playoff for the second year in a row. ■ Oregon finished the sweep against Utah yesterday, 5-1, to keep their baseball playoff hopes alive.
Up Next: The Ducks play a nonconference game at No. 23 Oregon State on Tuesday, then return home to close out the regular season with a three-game series against No. 2 UCLA at PK Park beginning Friday.
■ The softball team will host NC St. Friday in the Super Regionals at Howe Field.
Oregon and NC State will meet at 6 p.m. on Friday and again at noon on Saturday. A final game, if needed, will be at 3 p.m. on Saturday. All three games will be aired live on ESPNU.
