Duck Stuff: Morning Mud

Morning Mud
Rob Moseley has the latest practice report and has game notes for the national championship.

Highlights: Redshirting freshman Jalen Brown had a couple of "wow" moments in position drills. He got past a defensive back deep and, despite having his left arm being held, reached out with his right to make a one-handed "touchdown" catch. On his next rep, Brown caught a ball over the middle and held on despite going to the ground on a big hit by Reggie Daniels. … Ty Griffin showed off his arm strength during the same period, letting fly a deep ball that Darren Carrington hauled in. … Bralon Addison used a couple shifty moves to attract coverage over the top and free up Kani Benoit to make a reception underneath...

■ Tyson Alger break down the Ohio St. receivers versus the Duck secondary and Andrew Greif looks at our receivers versus the OSU defensive backs while Justin Wise looks the O-line for both teams.

■ Ted Miller says Marcus Mariota can make a case for greatest QB of all time.

■ Chantel Jennings says Darren Carrington is hitting his stride by focusing at wide receiver.

■ Byron Marshall graces the cover of Sports Illustrated where they predict an Oregon victory next week.

■ Ken Goe says it down't matter the color of the uniform but the men inside the uniform.

■ Dale Newton says the Ohio St. presents a much different challenge than FSU.

The biggest danger is that Ohio State will be able to pound the ball with the run and upset Oregon’s rhythm and tempo on offense. The Ducks need another big game from Mariota, cool and collected on the biggest state of a fabulous career. What an achievement it would be for the humble Hawaiian, capturing the PAC-12 title, the Heisman Trophy and the National Championship in one year.
