Duck Stuff: Morning Mud

Morning Mud
■ Marcus Mariota and Ifo Ekpre-Olomu headlined the All-America teams announced yesterday.

If he wins the Heisman, Mariota would sweep all the postseason awards he was up for. Besides the Unitas Award, he's won the Maxwell (player of the year), Walter Camp (player of the year) and Davey O'Brien (quarterback of the year) awards.

Kalon @ATQ has part one of his tribute to Marcus Mariota's 2014 season and part two is here. (yours truly might have helped a little bit)

■ Sharon Katz says Marcus Mariota is miles ahead of the other Heisman contenders.

Adam Rittenberg wonders if it will be a Heisman landslide for Marcus Mariota later today.

■ Andrew Greif looks at the impact a Heisman Trophy for Mariota would bring to the U of O.

For winners from schools not accustomed to the national spotlight, the visibility doesn't just open doors, it knocks them down with a kick. At more established athletic powers like Oregon, a win undoubtedly carries prestige, but could establish a sense of security, if not new streams of cash, for a department whose viability hinges on football.
