Duck Stuff: Morning Mud

Morning Mud
Rob Moseley has your Thursday practice report.

This was Oregon’s walk-through for Saturday’s game, so there aren’t any “highlights” per se to pass along. … As is customary, there was a one-off field-goal attempt just after stretching, a 39-yard kick that Matt Wogan hit. … Even though it was a walk-through tempo, Marcus Mariota still looked really fast. That guy is just pedal to the metal all the time, never takes his foot off the gas...

■ Andrew Greif, Richard Kolbell, Andrew Bantly and Rory Davidson preview the Colorado game.

■ Chantel Jennings has a six pack of questions for the Pac-12 this week including one for Oregon.

■ Joseph Hoyt says Hroniss Grasu's impact goes beyond the gridiron.

■ Marcus Mariota has been named to the Pop Warner award and Jake Fisher is a semifinalist for the Outland Trophy..

■ Royce Freeman and Byron Marshall might break the 1000 yard mark this weekend.

■ Laura Brehm profiles Oregon punter Ian Wheeler.

■ Dale Newton looks at the impact of being without Pharoah Brown.

With Brown gone, one of the solutions is to rediscover their redshirt freshman Z receiver with world class speed. A couple of deep strikes, particularly in the PAC-12 Championship and the potential playoff games that follow, will loosen opposing defenses and leave room underneath for Baylis and Mundt, keep opponents from creeping up in the box to slow down Freeman and Tyner, the running game that’s operated at 232 yards a contest, best in the conference for the 9th year in a row.

I'd love to see Royce and Byron hit 1,000!
