Duck Stuff: Morning Mud

Morning Mud
Rob Moseley has your Monday practice report.

Practice ended with a clutch scenario in which the offense needed to drive to a field goal – and the Ducks conducted it on the special teams practice field, which is natural grass like the surface at the Rose Bowl. Mariota had completions to Devon Allen and Pharaoh Brown and also ran for some yardage, helping set up a 26-yard “game-winning” field goal that Matt Wogan made. … Reggie Daniels came out hot for the second week in a row, with two interceptions in the first 11-on-11 period of the day – one a potential “pick-six” – and also an incredible leaping pass breakup in 7-on-7...

■ Andrew Grief gives you a sneak peek at UCLA.

Derrick Malone says don't count us out quite yet.

Arik Armstead thinks he might be back for the UCLA game and Tony Washington apologized to the team for his fourth quarter foul.

■ David Lombardi believes the Oregon vs UCLA game has the biggest playoff implications.

■ George Wrighster and Cristin McLemore talk about the game last week.

John Canzano talked with Nick Aliotti recently and he said he would have stayed at Oregon if he had been offered the head coaches job.

Dale Newton talks about college football parity.

I wouldn't have wanted Nick as a head coach either...I want them to conduct a national search and hire a guy from outside the program, or at the very least, hire coordinators from outside the program. The current approach has made us stale and predictable.
