Duck Stuff: Morning Mud

Morning Mud
■ Rob Moseley has your Wednesday practice report.

Troy Hill had an interception during one of the last periods of the day, and on the very last rep of practice, Dior Mathis leaped for a one-handed interception and headed up the sideline the other way. In the post-practice huddle, head coach Mark Helfrich joked that, while it was a good play, it might have drawn an illegal participation penalty because essentially the whole defensive sideline broke down the sideline to celebrate with Mathis.

■ Chantel Jennings reports lots of young wide receivers are being used in the passing game this year.

■ Tyson Alger says WSU's offense may be fun but the Ducks are fine running theirs.

Andrew Greif believes the veteran scout team deserves a lot of the credit for the Ducks success.

■ No big surprise here but Marcus Mariota and Arik Armstead will be entering the 2015 NFL draft.

■ Mark Flores has the latest on recruiting.

Dale Newton believes the Ducks will be well prepared for the pass-happy Cougs.

■ The baseball team is sorting through an impressive depth chart heading into fall practice and Cole Irvin is making good progress on returning from his injury.
