Duck Stuff: Morning Mud

Morning Mud
■ Andrew Greif says Don Pellum will be working with the defense to improve tackling and effort as the team prepares for Michigan St.

After spending the offseason emphasizing fundamentals in tackling, Pellum didn't get the tackling in space he wanted. He also would like for his experienced linebackers -- three of whom return as starters in Tony Washington, Derrick Malone and Rodney Hardrick -- to be playmakers.

"I don't think anything was really great, nothing was really bad," he said. "It needs to jump out. We'd like it to jump out."

■ Oregonlive has a sneak peek of the MSU game and oddsmakers have the Ducks as 11 point favorites.

■ Rob Moseley took notes from Mark Helfrich's teleconference call yesterday with reporters.

■ Matt Hayes says the Sooners and Ducks jumped to the front of the playoff race.

■ Four star athlete Malik Lovette verbally committed to the Ducks recently.

■ Former Oregon pitcher Jake Reed joined Jimmy Sherfy in the Arizona Fall League.

GO DUCKS!
