Duck Stuff: Morning Mud

Morning Mud
Rob Moseley has your Thursday practice report.

As an out-of-state student who happened to be a walk-on with the UO football team, redshirt freshman punter Ian Wheeler had some concerns about the viability of returning to the Ducks for a second season this fall...Wheeler found out he was also granted a scholarship.

■ Andrew Greif wonders if Marcus Mariota might be the best Duck quarterback ever.

■ Kevin Gemmell has six questions for the Pac-12 as we enter week one.

■ Ted Miller breaks protocol and looks ahead to week two games in the Pac-12.

■ Nate Costa talks about Marcus Marito among other topics in this video.

■ The ESPN bloggers agree and have Oregon winning on Saturday.

■ Dale Newton says forget about the score on Saturday but pay attention to what the Ducks could be this season.

Results can’t be perfect, but effort should be. This is a game Oregon will win handily, perhaps with a barrage of touchdowns in the second quarter. The importance of it is that it sets the standard for their effort and preparation in succeeding weeks. The most significant opponent they have this week is not South Dakota, but living up to the standard of the team they could be.

GO DUCKS!
