Duck Stuff: Morning Mud

Morning Mud
Rob Moseley has your Wednesday practice report.

No highlights to offer from this one, since the Ducks were going through the specific plays they’ll use Saturday against the Coyotes. … The kickoff, kickoff return and punt return teams all got extensive work. Freshman outside linebacker Justin Hollins looks like an early contributor on the punt return and kickoff units. … Depth on the offensive line has been bolstered this week by the addition of walk-on Jim Weber out of Beaverton’s Southridge High. Weber, who was assigned No. 60, is working at guard and center now, but could eventually move over to the defensive line, where the Ducks originally had him pegged.

■ Tyson Alger wonder if it will be a shutout on Saturday.

■ Andrew Greif has a short Q&A with SD beat writer Mick Garry and Oregon CB Ifo Ekpre-Olumu..

■ Sean Meagher looks at five Pac-12 storylines as the season opens.

■ Mark Flores has the latest recruiting news.

■ Dale Newton likes the move of Don Pellum being on the sidelines to see the action up close.

Ultimately it’s not about the x’s and the o’s, it’s about the energy, execution and effort.

Which is why Duck fans should be encouraged by Don Pellum’s decision to coach this year from the sideline rather than the booth, a decision that will allow him to work face-to-face during games and teach and correct on the fly.

GO DUCKS!
