Duck Stuff: Morning Mud

Morning Mud
Rob Moseley has your Tuesday practice report.

Thomas Tyner got behind the defense for a long completion from Mariota in 7-on-7, and Allen did likewise in a team period. … Austin Maloata ended up on the turf after being double-teamed on a play, then bounced back on the next rep by tracking down a running back from behind. … A nice catch for Dwayne Stanford over the middle in 7-on-7 was followed up by Erick Dargan breaking up another potential Mariota-to-Stanford completion.

■ Mike Keldorf will be leaving the Oregon program after 14 years with the football program.

The Oregon game looms large for the Michigan St. Spartans.

■ Andrew Greif breaks down the linebackers in fall camp.

■ Bruce Feldman and Stewart Mandel think Oregon might flop this year.

■ ESPN graded teams not only on the field but in the classroom, Oregon came in fourth, not too shabby.

■ Jack Heffernan says it will take three mental approaches to excel this year.

■ Dale Newton says Oregon must make it past the selection committee (besides win a bunch of games) to compete in the national championship.

■ Athlon Sports says Marcus Mariota is the best player this year in the Pac-12.

Athlon Sports recently polled 17 media members to rank their top 15 players of the Pac-12 Conference (full disclosure: I was asked to vote and I did). The results were compiled and revealed Tuesday and Mariota is not only No. 1, but he was ranked no lower than second on any ballot.

GO DUCKS!
