Duck Stuff: Morning Mud

Morning Mud
Rob Moseley has your Thursday practice report.

There was a pretty eye-opening moment midway through practice when the linemen did 1-on-1 pass-rush drills. True freshman Tyrell Crosby neutralized a spin move by DeForest Buckner, the two faced off again immediately and Crosby won the matchup again. Hardly anybody has had success against Buckner in that drill the last two weeks, but the true freshman held his own.

■ Byron Marshall is pushing himself even harder as running back competition heats up.

■ Marcus Mariota was added to the Manning Award watch list yesterday. He also leads the field in the first ever ESPN Heisman Trophy poll.

■ Andrew Greif breaks down the fall camp defensive line.

■ I know it's been cooler the last couple of days but have you ever wondered how the team stays cool on those sweltering days we have had recently.

■ Hayden Kim says Bralon Addison shines even when he's not on the field.

■ ATQ has Marcus Mariota #4 in their "20 in 20" series.

If Mariota can finally beat Stanford and get to the College Football Playoff without stumbling like he and the Ducks have the past two seasons, he’ll ride off into the sunset to the NFL as the greatest quarterback in Oregon history. If he can’t, he’ll always be known as the quarterback who couldn't win the big games when it mattered most.

The ball is in your hands, Marcus. What are you going to do?

GO DUCKS!
