■ The Oregon baseball team will face Clemson in the opening round of the NCAA Regionals on Friday in Nashville, TN.

"We're going to need some guys to step up," [George] Horton said. "On paper our best chance is to get through it in three. (But that's) easier said than done."

The top-seeded Ducks (54-7-1) and eighth-seeded Seminoles (55-7) will meet at 11:30 a.m. Thursday at ASA Hall of Fame Stadium. They're part of the eight-team WCWS field that includes fifth-seeded Florida and 13th-seeded Baylor in Oregon's half of the bracket.
