Duck Stuff: Morning Mud

Morning Mud
■ Andrew Greif wonders who will replace De'Anthony Thomas' numbers in 2014.

"I think we've got a really good kid in Tony James coming out of Florida, I think he’s going to be that kind of guy," running backs coach Gary Campbell said. "That’s the guy we’re looking forward to replace De’Anthony. Otherwise, we’re going to have to have those receivers step up and do the job."

■ Dale Newton likes the proven skills of returning players along with the enthusiasm of the new players looking to make an impact.

■ Matt Takimoto @ATQ what we will learn this spring, more of the same old song and dance?

■ Joseph Young will not only be practicing with the football team this year he will also play his senior year for the basketball team.

■ I don't normally post about the softball team but they are currently ranked #1 in the country after taking the series against former #1 UCLA, that's the first time in school history.

■ Oregon bats came alive during the first inning last night at PK Park as they beat Portland 15-10.

Oregon (23-10) sent 14 batters to the plate in the first finishing with eight hits and two walks in the nine-run inning. Mitchell Tolman had a pair of RBI singles in the inning while Kyle Garlick drove in two runs with a double and Mark Karaviotis (single) and Aaron Payne (triple) each picked up RBI with hits.

The Pilots and Ducks will complete a two-game home-and-home series this week on Wednesday at Joe Etzel Field in Portland at 3 p.m.

GO DUCKS!

I like scoring 15, but I don't like Portland getting 10. Word.
