Duck Stuff: Morning Mud

OregonGridiron wonders what you love about Autzen Stadium and offers up some possibilities.

Dale Newton takes a preseason look at Marcus Mariota and sees opportunity, will luck also play a part in 2014?

Championship seasons are hard and improbable. Marcus Mariota, sleek, smart and fast, has the talent, leadership ability and resourcefulness to win it all, as he did as a senior at St. Louis High in Aloha Stadium.

All he needs is a little luck. A year without a night that haunts the memory. Oregon fans have waited patiently, and he is the Moses of their football myth.

George Horton talked with the media after Oregon beat Utah yesterday at PK Park.

■ Shaun Chase's pinch-hit homer sealed the series sweep of Utah yesterday as Oregon won 3-1.

Chase's dramatics made a winner of UO starter Jeff Gold for the sixth time in six starts this year, and gave the No. 12 Ducks (17-5, 5-1 Pac-12) their third series sweep of the season. Gold allowed two hits and an unearned run over eight innings, taking pressure off a bullpen that will be tested over a stretch of seven games in nine days that begins Tuesday at San Francisco.

GO DUCKS!
