Duck Stuff: Morning Mud

Morning Mud
■ Don Gilman wonders if the time is now for Oregon football and Marcus Mariota.

Who knows what direction the program will go after Mariota has moved on to the NFL?  Certainly, surprises happen and new players step up in unexpected ways, but there is little disputing that Marcus Mariota is special. There has never been a player like him before in Oregon’s history, and it is likely that there will never be one like him again.

This is his year to shine, and seize the moment.

■ Oregon brought home both the women's and men's national NCAA indoor track titles yesterday in Albuquerque.

■ Mitchell Tolman drove in four runs as the Ducks got their first Pac-12 win against USC 7-2 yesterday at PK Park.

Tolman, Oregon's cleanup hitter, pushed his team-leading RBI total to 20 for the season with four Saturday.

"Certain series there are hitters you don't want to see get in the batters box, and Mitch certainly has the look in his eye," UO coach George Horton said.

GO DUCKS!
