Duck Stuff: Morning Mud

Morning Mud
■ Kevin Gemmell has Ifo Ekpre-Olumu in the #15 slot as ESPN looks at the top 25 players in the Pac-12 for 2013.

...A first-team All-American per ESPN, he was also a second-team All-American by several other publications and the Walter Camp Foundation. He already was slated as one of the top defensive back prospects in college football. Now that he’s returning to Oregon for another season, he’s going to get that much better, that much sharper and that much more polished. Expect him to be on pretty much every preseason All-America list and the postseason ones as well. His return gives Oregon’s secondary instant credibility.

■ Dale Newton says we will have a reliable kicker for the 2014 season, unlike the recent past.

■ Noah Dee @ATQ says there is life after one recruit decommits and then Charles Nelson says Oregon is the place for me.

■ Joseph Hoyt has a nice story about a local barber that has become a fixture around Oregon.

■ Chip Kelly hired two former Oregon alumni as assistant coaches, Bill Musgrave and Michael Clay joined the Eagle staff yesterday.

■ Oregon is ranked 11th in the preseason poll released by Baseball America yesterday.

Oregon returns six starting position players off the 2013 team, which finished 48-16 and advanced to the NCAA Regionals, as well as all three weekend starters on the mound. Overall, UO returns 12 position players, 10 of 15 pitchers, and two redshirts who could start while boasting one of the top recruiting classes in the country.

GO DUCKS!
