Duck Stuff: Morning Mud

Morning Mud
Ted Miller has Oregon's defense on his "best of the Pac-12 bowl season" list.

In Nick Aliotti's last game as Oregon's defensive coordinator, the Ducks held Texas to seven points, 13 first downs and 236 total yards. The Ducks defense even outscored the Longhorns in the 30-7 victory with a pair of pick-6s.

Andrew Greif has a must read story on Nick Aliotti and his retirement that started out with a long standing family tradition.

A.J. Jacobson reminds us there are still a few remaining spots open for this years recruiting class with less than a month no national signing day.

■ Duck fans can prove that they are the greatest fans in the United States by helping Oregon win the NCAA’s 6th Fan contest. Many ways to vote including directly from the website, Facebook, Twitter or other social media sites.

Dale Newton talks about what Oregon overcame in 2013.

Despite all this Helfrich became the first Oregon first-year coach to win a bowl game and achieve 11 wins. Admittedly he had more to work with than any previous head coach, but he also had a busload of adversity and jet-fueled expectations.

2014 will bring its own challenges, but the entire group, Helfrich included, will be strengthened by the experience of getting along without Chip Kelly.
