Duck Stuff: Morning Mud

Morning Mud
■ Rob Moseley has your Tuesday practice report.

Highlights: Joe Walker had a couple of impressive stops on run plays midway through practice, at one point teaming with Rodney Hardrick to drive a scout-team back 15 yards behind the line of scrimmage. … Avery Patterson popped a running back to break up a pass during drills, and later ran with a receiver to break up another. ...

Tyrell Robinson and Arik Armstead had tackles for loss, Ekpre-Olomu and Jackson intercepted passes and Stetzon Bair nearly intercepted a tipped ball at the line, all during team drills. … Thomas Tyner broke free for big plays both during run drills and on a pass play, getting blocks downfield from Keanon Lowe and Blake Stanton.

■ Beth Maiman compares the tight ends for Texas and Oregon as we count down the days to the Alamo Bowl.

Dale Newton looks at postseason accolades for both the current Oregon team and incoming recruits.

■ Hayden Kim sits down with Bralon Addison for a short Q&A session.

■ Andrew Greif looks at the young Oregon safeties as they "audition" to replace the graduating seniors in preparation for the Alamo Bowl.

Dec. 30 marks the finale for the careers of starting safeties Brian Jackson and Avery Patterson and the start of a new era along Oregon's last line of defense for those vying to replace them....

“It’s very important that I see them ready to go,” defensive backs coach John Neal said. “I’m looking at one of the best teams (Texas) we've played against all year, no question, of what they do and the talent that they have and still, I’m thinking about getting ready for next year, as well, as we mold at the same time.”
