Duck Stuff: Morning Mud

Morning Mud
Jason Quick gives us a sneak peek at the Texas Longhorns and mentions the last time we matched up in a bowl game.

Oregon and Texas met in the 2000 Holiday Bowl, which Oregon won 35-30 behind quarterback Joey Harrington, running back Maurice Morris and cornerback Rashad Bauman. Texas, which was ranked 12th, was led by quarterback Chris Simms. Texas has won four of the five all-time meetings.

■ Mark Helfrich has suspended TE Pharoah Brown for the Alamo Bowl because of his involvement in the snow ball fight last week.

Hroniss Grasu was named a finalist for Rimington Trophy yesterday. The trophy is presented annually to the outstanding center in college football.

Charles Fisher breaks down some new play variations aimed at protecting Marcus Mariota.

Ted Miller previews the Pac-12 bowl games and has this to say about the Oregon vs Texas matchup.

Oregon's matchup with Texas in the Valero Alamo Bowl is interesting. If both teams show up with their best game, Oregon wins by two or three touchdowns. But the Ducks over the final four weeks of the season would lose to Texas. The Ducks need to be motivated. They need to know, for one, that the Longhorns figure to be fired up, as they are perhaps playing their last game with Mack Brown as their coach.

GO DUCKS!
