Duck Stuff: Morning Mud

Morning Mud
Rob Moseley has your Thursday practice report.

[Nick] Aliotti seemed particularly intense this morning, no doubt aware of the challenge his defense will face against California on Saturday. But by the end of the day, Aliotti deemed it the best Thursday practice so far this season for his guys. … I've reported it before, but it really is remarkable how back-and-forth the placekicking competition continues to be. Seems like whenever Alejandro Maldonado or Matt Wogan makes a kick, the other does as well. Same deal for misses. Just really hard to gauge any separation there from my vantage point. … It was a brilliant, sunny day under just patchy clouds in the stadium. The forecast Saturday night is for rain, however.

■ Ken Goe believes Cal's "air raid" attack might be a problem for Oregon. I have one word for that, ludicrous.

■ Bob Laws has pregame analysis of the Bears passing attack and predicts an Oregon victory.

■ Marcus Mariota sees an opportunity against Cal's "undisciplined" defense according to Andrew Greif.

OL Tyler Johnstone has a goal. Fewer than 10 QB sacks for the season.

Dale Newton wonders if Marcus Mariota is ready for the NFL.

Ted Miller and Kevin Gemmell have Oregon beating Cal by at least four touchdowns.

Miller: Both teams were off last weekend, and Cal needed a break. But Autzen Stadium isn't a place to go to heal a season. I think this one might get a bit lopsided. Oregon 50, California 20.

Lopsided is right!
