Morning : With no pads on, it was a session heavy on teaching and installation. The offense did two late periods of second-and-long, to reinforce all the reps they did in that situation during the scrimmage. Special teams included punt return and kickoff coverage.
Afternoon: After what head coach Mark Helfrich deemed a somewhat sluggish scrimmage Tuesday — he wanted to see a more physical team out there — the coach seemed to consider today's two workouts a bounce-back for the Ducks. Perhaps the fact this afternoon was a competition day got their attention. As is typically the case, the competition day came down to the final few reps, with the defense holding off the offense for a 25-24 victory.

“So I think just being in the program and getting some playing time from last year has helped him to come in with more confidence and that’s another key,” Campbell said. “When a guy is confident, then his talents show because he’s got the feel for everything and he can do the things that he’s good at athletically.”
