Duck Stuff: Morning Mud

Morning Mud
■ Rob Moseley previews the quarterback position and the running back position as we head into fall camp.

QB: The big question this preseason will be, who emerges as Mariota's backup? Redshirt freshmen Jake Rodrigues and Jeff Lockie each performed publicly for the first time in the spring game, with Rodrigues getting the first set of reps. Neither managed much when Oregon's top defenders were on the field but each showed some flashes after that. True to their reputations, Rodrigues looked a bit more explosive as a runner and a passer, while Lockie was more efficient throwing the ball and didn't take any sacks.

RB: Headlining this group is one of the most exciting, intriguing weapons in all of college football, De'Anthony Thomas. He's a threat to score any time he touches the ball.

■ Chris Courtney looks at the five most explosive players in the Pac-12 heading into the season. Of course De'Anthony sits at number one.

■ Bryan Holt takes an early look at a basketball game coming up between Oregon and Georgetown to support the troops.

Yes, the game is more for the troops, but it is also an amazing opportunity to show the basketball world that Oregon basketball is here to stay. The matchup is set for November 8, at a location to be announced.
