Duck Stuff: Morning Mud

Morning Mud
Colt Lyerla was named to the 2013 John Mackey Award watch list and Hroniss Grasu was named to the Rimington Trophy watch list yesterday.

The Hillsboro standout (Lyerla) was awarded honorable mention all-conference acclaim a year ago after pacing the tight ends in the Pac-12 in yards-per-catch (15.7 avg.) and sharing the league-lead among players at his position with six touchdowns. Lyerla completed last season as the Ducks’ third-leading receiver in terms of catches (25) and receiving yards (392).

Grasu was also nominated last season before earning first-team All-Pac-12 honors.

■ Todd Moore gives the offensive line a lot of credit in protecting the Oregon offensive machine.

When you have great communication and unselfish players working together on the offensive line, you create the explosive offense we have all come to love.  No wonder the Ducks are one of the best in the nation at preventing sacks!

From eDuck: According to a media release on Monday from the Oregon Athletic Department, LHP Cole Irvin has been named first-team All-America by Perfect Game.

Dale Newton warns, "don't hassle the Huff," Josh Huff that is.

All of his positive plays and the absence of injuries and controversy finally frees the sensitive, quiet role player to truly emerge in his final campaign as a Duck.
