■ Kenjon Barner signed a contract with the Carolina Panthers yesterday.
Panthers general manager Dave Gettleman said in the release, "Kenjon has great speed and was a dynamic player on offense and special teams at Oregon.”
■ The Oregonian has a selection of articles on what they're saying about the Eagles' new coach Chip Kelly.
■ Sophomore left-hander Tommy Thorpe has accepted an invitation to play for the 2013 USA Baseball Collegiate National Team this summer.
■ Speaking of Tommy Thorpe, he led the Ducks to a 6-2 win over Utah yesterday.
Tyler Baumgartner led the Ducks going 3-for-5 with an RBI and two runs scored. Aaron Payne was 2-for-3 with an RBI, while Scott Heineman went 2-for-5 with a run scored. Ryon Healy drove in two runs to push his season total to 50 RBI.
Oregon and Utah will play game two of its series Saturday at 3 p.m. (PT). The Ducks will send freshman Cole Irvin to the mound looking for his 11th win.
