Duck Stuff: Morning Mud

Morning Mud
Athlon Sports likes Oregon to win the Pac-12 North over Stanford. Here is just one of the writers comments:

Oregon has a criminally underrated and consistent defense, placing in the top three in the Pac-12 in yards per play and takeaways in each of the last four seasons. I’ll stick with Oregon for now.

■ Ted Miller grades the bye week set up for Oregon this fall.

Sept. 21 (before visit from California) and Nov. 2 (before visit to Stanford)

This is a solid set-up in terms of breaking up the season into manageable bits (three games, five games, four games). It's also nice to have an off week before beginning Pac-12 play. And, obviously, it would seem to benefit the Ducks to have a bye before facing Stanford. But that advantage is written off by the Cardinal also having the same off weekend before the critical Thursday night clash. Grade? B.

Mark Flores has the latest recruiting updates.

Hroniss Grasu was named to the 2013 Rimington Trophy watch list yesterday.

The Rimington Trophy is presented annually to the Most Outstanding Center in NCAA Division I-A College Football.

The softball team is hosting the Super Regionals this weekend at Howe Field where they will take on Nebraska in a best of three series.
