Gone is LaMichael James and Kenjon Barner, leaving ‘DAT’ a shot at a huge 2013 season. The diminutive do-everything dynamo from Los Angeles has electric speed to burn and the ability to contribute in a variety of ways. He has scored 18 rushing touchdowns on 147 attempts, 14 receiving touchdowns on 91 receptions and four return touchdowns through just two seasons of action. He is a perfect fit for Oregon’s offense, be it run by Chip Kelly or Mark Helfrich, and could see his workload increase in 2013. Pac-12 defenses beware.
■ Mark Helfrich says JC transfer Joe Walker will definitely contribute this season on defense and special teams.
Walker, a sophomore junior college transfer, enrolled at the university in January. He immediately drew praise within the program for the diligence with which he attacked conditioning workouts, and his efforts to the learn the Ducks’ defense.
■ Dion Jordan was the number three pick in the NFL draft yesterday and goes to the Miami Dolphins who traded up get him. Kyle Long also was chosen in the first round at number twenty by the Chicago Bears. The draft continues today with round two and three, which Ducks will go next?
