Duck Stuff: Morning Mud
• George Horton talks to the media after the Ducks completed the sweep of washington 6-0. Video courtesy of KEZI.
Freshman Cole Irvin pitched a complete game shutout to lead No. 12 Oregon to a 6-0 win over Washington on Saturday night at PK Park.
Irvin tossed the first complete game of the season by the Ducks allowing just four hits, while striking out a season-high 11 and walking just one. He only allowed two runners past first base, none after the fifth inning.
• John Canzano says Oregon is going all in trying to win the Aaron Gordon sweepstakes.
Gordon has said he will announce his decision on Wednesday at the McDonald's All American game in Chicago. Oregon is all in. And I'm hoping the Ducks land the kid because after watching Oregon-Louisville in a Regional Semifinal, I believe coach Dana Altman could reach a Final Four next season with Gordon in his lineup.
• Aaron Fentress previews the DB's and special team unit heading into spring practice.
Alejandro Maldonado must begin fending off Dylan Ausherman, who also can kick field goals, and get a leg up in the confidence department before three-star recruit Matt Wogan arrives on campus in the fall looking to become the starter at placekicker and punter.
As for the return game, Oregon has no shortage of dynamic athletes capable of causing damage.
