The Ducks will feel good entering the summer if: The robust numbers result in a healthy competition throughout the spring, benefiting everybody on the depth chart.

Oregon added two quarterbacks in the 2012 recruiting class, four-star recruit Jake Rodrigues and three-star recruit Jeff Lockie. Coach Mark Helfrich said he's excited to see how the two redshirt freshmen have progressed. 

The competition to become Mariota's backup, Helfrich said, is wide open and both Rodrigues and Lockie have put in extra work both on their bodies and in the film room.

Neither, Helfrich said, has slacked off given that Mariota is the clear starter and both know that the backup more than likely could see significant action next season.
