Duck Stuff: Morning Mud

Morning Mud
Aaron Fentress takes a look at the offensive line heading into spring practice.

The Ducks return three starters with six years of combined quality experience and all three should be back in 2014, as well. In other words, this position is as strong as it has ever been and Oregon should have no trouble filling the holes at guard and continuing to rack up big rushing numbers.

• Oregon beat Arizona 7-6 to complete the three game sweep yesterday at PK Park.

Freshman Josh Graham went 2-for-3 with a season-high three RBI to lead the Ducks’ offense, while Ryon Healy was 2-for-3 with two RBI and a run scored. Brett Thomas finished 2-for-3 with a RBI and two runs scored, and Mitchell Tolman was 2-for-5 with a run scored.

• The Sweet Sixteen schedule has been set as Oregon will face Louisville on Friday.

Friday's 2013 NCAA Men's Basketball Championship Midwest Regional semifinal between No. 25 Oregon and No. 2 Louisville is scheduled to tip off at 4:15 p.m. PT from Lucas Oil Stadium, with a live telecast on CBS.

• Rob Moseley believes the football team won't mind too much if Arik Armstead misses the beginning of spring practice.

Sophomore defensive end Arik Armstead said yesterday he intends to see through the NCAA tournament run with the UO basketball team, despite the looming start of spring football practice April 2. For Armstead to miss the first week, the hoops team would have to upset No. 1 seed Louisville on Friday and also win Sunday in the Elite Eight, thus reaching the Final Four ... and in that case I don't see Mark Helfrich complaining about Armstead missing four of the 15 spring football workouts.
