Duck Stuff: Morning Mud

Morning Mud

Ted Miller has a few Pac-12 recruiting superlatives including Mark Helfrich's first class.

Best closer, rookie coach division: Oregon was hit hard by the loss of running back Dontre Wilson, who seemed like a perfect hybrid speed guy for the Ducks' offense, but he opted for Ohio State. Still, new coach Mark Helfrich also rallied on signing day, getting a big pair of flips: Defensive end Torrodney Prevot and offensive guard Cameron Hunt. Prevot flipped from USC and Hunt from California.

• Peter Neal believes Oregon will continue to attack which leads to winning.

The ability to express your philosophy through actions — not words — is a marker of success.  The Ducks have used their commitment to attack to attract kids from across the country.  The coaching staff find themselves in the enviable position of being able to go into living rooms comfortable and confident in their message.

• The Oregon baseball team has been picked to finish fourth in the Pac-12 Preseason Baseball Coaches’ Poll released yesterday.

Jimmy Sherfy picked up another preseason honor yesterday as he was named to the NCBWA Stopper Of The Year Watch List.

The Camarillo, Calif. Native also has claimed a number of preseason All-America  honors. He was named a preseason first-team All-American by the NCBWA and Louisville Slugger, and was a second-team preseason pick by Perfect Game.

GO DUCKS!
