Duck Stuff: Morning Mud

Morning Mud
Ted Miller gives Marcus Mariota kudos in his Pac-12 regular-season wrap up.

Newcomer of the year, Marcus Mariota, Oregon: In a year in which redshirt freshmen quarterbacks became all the rage, Mariota stood out with his efficiency as a passer, his athleticism as a runner and the speed with which he commanded Oregon's offense. His presence assures Oregon will continue to be one of the best offensive teams in the country in the coming years.

Matt Walks @ODE takes a look at how the Fiesta Bowl participants got there.

• Ken Goe notes Oregon's non-conference schedule wasn't filled with cream puffs after all.

Duck fans aren't flocking to buy Fiesta Bowl tickets as fast as K-State fans it seems.

Isaac Rosenthal @ODE says the Ducks aren't your upstart team anymore.

People outside of the Ducks football universe like to say that Oregon is just a flavor-of-the-month program without any tradition. It’s true that Oregon doesn’t have any Heisman Trophy winners or national championships (yet), but the numbers simply don’t back up the notion that the Ducks are upstarts.

When the Ducks take the field against Kansas State, they’ll be playing in their fourth-straight BCS bowl game. It’s the longest active streak in the nation and it’s an accomplishment even many of the so-called traditional powerhouses haven’t done.

GO DUCKS!

Four straight...that's pretty impressive. It's been a fun ride!
