Duck Stuff: Morning Mud

Morning Mud
Josh Schlichter wonders if Chip Kelly can learn something from Mike Leach's "6" route?

Perhaps the next phase in the Oregon offense is utilizing some "run and shoot" style routes, taking the simplistic approach of getting their best athletes into open space downfield. It is only logical to put DeAnthony Thomas or BJ Kelley into the “six” system, something that may become a more standard element of head coach Chip Kelly’s scheme.

With time to work with his young signal-callers, Coach Kelly has the ability to create an even more unstoppable offensive juggernaut, through simplicity. Oregon has world-class athletes, get them the ball in open space.

Josh White looks at what USC coach Lane Kiffin missed out on, De'Anthony Thomas, and wonders if Kiffin's assessment of Thomas' NFL potential is accurate.

In the end, it really doesn’t matter what position DAT might play in the NFL. That is for the NFL team who drafts him to decide, and for fans to debate.

Kiffin may overrate his ability to judge players, and he's missing out on DAT for that reason...maybe. Either way, I'm glad he's on our side.
