Duck Stuff: Morning Mud

Morning Mud
• Steve Maher believes Oregon's measured approach to football recruiting serves them well.

The Oregon softball team will be heading to the College World Series after beating Super Regional host Texas twice yesterday.

Looking ahead, Oregon and the other seven Super Regional advancers look forward to the Women's College World Series in Oklahoma City, Thursday, May 31-Wednesday, June 6. Every game in the double-elimination format will be televised, as well as the best-of-three series between the final two teams.

Oregon’s first round opponent will be returning NCAA champion and #3 seed Arizona State – a team it split the season series with this year with a 3-0 win and 7-4 loss in Eugene in early April.

The baseball team lost yesterday, 3-2, on a great play by the left fielder who threw out Aaron Payne trying to score from third after making a shoe-string catch on a sharply hit ball by Ryon Healy.

Not to worry though, because Oregon can still play today for at least a share of the Pac-12 title.

Today's Civil War series finale will be a stand-alone championship game for the Ducks. They win, they share the title. They win and both UCLA and Arizona lose, Oregon takes the championship outright.

Should make for another great day of college baseball.
