Duck Stuff: Morning Mud

Morning Mud
ESPN analyst Brock Huard likes the Ducks' chances at knocking off the SEC at winning the next BCS Championship. Here is just one of Huard's three reasons.

The Ducks have an SEC-worthy defensive front: "Yeah, our group thinks they could be [on that level]," Kelly said. "We have some size with Wade Keliikipi [6-foot-3, 300 pounds] and Ricky Heimuli [6-4, 321] that will match some of those guys. Football starts up front. We've learned that in our battles with LSU and Auburn. I really think our defensive line will be the strength of this football team."

Mark Flores has his weekly Oregon recruiting update.

• Aaron Fentress reports the U of O is on the verge of hosting a regional tournament at PK Park.

The No. 6 Ducks are virtually assured of hosting one of the 16 regional tournaments held in two weeks.

At this point, they'd probably have to lose several games to remaining opponents, Seattle and Portland, and get roughed up by Oregon State to blow the opportunity to play host.

Winning the conference title could lock up a top eight national seed and give UO a chance to host a super regional should the Ducks advance that far. The next step would be a trip to the College World Series in Omaha, Neb.
