Look at it as a Costa/Thomas win-win type of situation from 2010 but with better arms, faster legs, and simply more physical talent. Reflect on that for a moment, as that is really something that should not be taken lightly considering the individual and team accomplishments during the collective tenure of those two now former greats. Rest easy, Duck fans. Oregon will be just fine with whoever winds up winning this battle and earning the starting spot.
• Dale Newton @The Duck Stops Here likes what he saw in Marcus Mariota.
The measure of a quarterback has to combine his physical tools with his ability to process information under pressure. Saturday, Mariota looked like one of the best quarterback talents the Ducks have ever had, in terms of his knack for handling situations and relying on his skills and the skills of his teammates. He looked special, while Bennett looked harried and out of synch. This time the optimists may be right.

Alex Keudell will start for Oregon tonight in the series opener at Hi Corbett Field in Tucson, Ariz.
