Duck Stuff: Morning Mud

Chip Stays
• Rumors cascaded through the internet social media sites like the the raging waters over the Sahalie Falls on the McKenzie river all day yesterday into the wee hours of this morning.

The latest, Chip Kelly had a change of heart and will be staying at Oregon according to Adam Jude at the Register Guard that has a post time of 12:16am today and confirmed this morning at 5:23am by Ted Miller and the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. Following is from Adam's story.

University of Oregon football coach Chip Kelly told a highly placed UO source late Sunday night that he has reversed course and decided to turn down an offer from the NFL’s Tampa Bay Buccaneers.

The source told The Register-Guard earlier Sunday night that Kelly had reached an agreement to become Tampa Bay’s head coach. “It’s done,” the source said.

Just before midnight, Kelly changed his mind, telling the source: “I’m staying.”

Kelly told one assistant coach Sunday night that he had been offered the Tampa Bay job, but Kelly told him he wasn’t certain what he would do.

An athletic department spokesman said earlier Sunday that Kelly’s status at the UO had not changed.

That was way too close for comfort, now we'll wait and see what the fallout is from all of this. We would have survived a change of coaches but would it be a coach who had the same style and offensive genius, probably not.

I could put more links up from other sources but they all say the same thing and refer to this same article, the only one that matters today. Chip is staying.

GO DUCKS!
