Duck Stuff: Morning Mud

Rob Moseley and Ken Goe have your Thursday practice update and MaxWilliams247 provides the video of CK answering questions after practice.

Rob: "There was a lot of noise at practice today," said UO coach Chip Kelly, who later confirmed that Darron Thomas will be his starting quarterback Saturday night. "Just getting ready for their stadium. Gotta get used to it."

Ken: LaMichael James and Darron Thomas both looked fine to me as they came out of Autzen Stadium. I didn't see punter Jackson Rice -- who apparently has had some sort of right hip problem -- because some players exited during Kelly's availability.

• The subject of the day is the long standing rivalry between the Dawgs and the Ducks and some journalists look back at what the fuss is all about including; Ted Miller, Lindsay Schnell, Marcus Ross, Adam Jude and Ken Goe. lets us know that Oregon safety John Boyett has been named one of 20 quarterfinalists for the eighth annual Lott IMPACT Trophy, which is awarded to college football’s best defensive player on the basis of athletic performance and personal character.

Ted Miller has what to watch in the Pac-12 this week and wonders if Oregon will be sharp and efficient at QB this week.

Dale Newton says DT has to play better for the Ducks to win in November.

The Ducks need their junior leader to rise and fire, not only to keep his job over Bennett, but to overcome four of the top teams in the conference (counting ASU in a potential championship game rematch) and their traditional rival OSU in the regular season finale. They can't get five more wins without solid play from the quarterback.
