Duck Stuff: Morning Mud

Morning Mud
Rob Moseley notes that a series of costly mistakes and a physical LSU defense doomed the Ducks on Saturday night.

[Darron] Thomas, who declared himself “very confident” coming into Saturday, said he was “still confident” coming out, despite the humbling defeat.

“It’s just going to show the character of the team,” he said, “how hard we’re going to come back and play after this loss.”

• George Schroeder believes there is a gap between college football's good and great and the gap got a little bigger for the Ducks.

It’s not that the Ducks weren’t ready for the big stage. They’re just not good enough to own it.

Don’t misunderstand — Oregon is good. I think the Ducks will win their third straight conference championship, which would be a huge accomplishment.

They deserve kudos for taking on the high-risk, high-reward challenge. Also, I know. They hurt themselves.

• Lindsay Schnell has a good article on the big business of Texas high school football.

Rob Moseley has a few snap judegments about the LSU game and as usual makes some good points.

• Cliff Harris' teamates noted the All-American corner was sorely missed.

“I think the whole team missed Cliff Harris,” UO quarterback Darron Thomas said. “He’s a guy that’s working towards coming back, but it’s on him, and it’s coach Kelly’s decision. I know he’s going to come out and bust it hard after he’s seen what happened today.”

GO DUCKS!
