Duck Stuff: Morning Mud

Morning Mud
Rob Moseley had a radio interview with the Bald Faced Truth on Friday and talked about the grey area of recruiting, wide receivers and the offensive line. You can listen to the audio here.

• Bryan Bennett worked as a counselor last week at the Manning Passing Academy put on by Archie, Peyton and Eli Manning.

“It allowed me to measure myself against those guys, and also to see the way the Mannings act, just kind of that poise,” said Bennett, who redshirted last season but was on call as the backup to Darron Thomas following Nate Costa’s season-ending knee injury.

“They’re professional quarterbacks that have both won Super Bowls, so it was good to see.”

• Dale Newton believes the Ducks should target OLB Bryce Cottrell out of Plano, TX in their recruiting efforts.

He plays outside linebacker in a 3-4 defense at Plano West, a school with a great tradition that suffered a winless season last year. Cottrell didn't disappoint, however.  He's started since his sophomore year, and in his highlight film what stands out is his speed and quickness to the ball.  He knifes in, speed rushes, throws down, a high-volume tackler who pursues and breaks down ball carriers with fantastic effectiveness and enthusiasm.  Fans will love how hard he plays, the relentlessness, the refusal to be blocked.
