Duck Stuff: Morning Mud

Morning Mud
Dale Newton thinks the 2011 defensive unit could be the best the Ducks have ever produced.

This is a whole new era for the Oregon defense.  If they continue to work the way they have this spring, they may change the identity of UO as the soft little school with the fancy offense.

They'll still be exciting and explosive, but they'll have the character to dominate opponents physically.  The shootouts, flame outs, nightmarish beatdowns and defensive collapses are a thing of the past.

Rob Moseley names five guys whp have helped themselves on defnese this spring. His list includes,; Dion Jordan, Kiko Alonso, Troy Hill, Derrick Malone and Avery Patterson.

Could the talented Oregon tight ends be difference makers this year? Dale Newton thinks they could.

The Ducks looked poised to do more in power sets this fall with tight ends David Paulson, Williams and Colt Lyerla all having solid springs.

These three are athletic enough to be on the field at the same time.  They'll make Oregon's offense even tougher to defend, especially in the red zone.  Third and five, third and eight don't look as difficult when a team has so many weapons, particularly big receivers with sure hands.
