Duck Stuff: Morning Mud
• We had a great time at Man Camp VII as Noah (pictured) joined us this year, but it's good to be back home. For anyone interested here are the pics from our trip.
• Rob Moseley provides all the links today. First up is his story on the conclusion of voluntary summer workouts.
“I feel like we found pretty much the core of who our leaders will be,” senior linebacker Spencer Paysinger said. “That was a big question, losing Will Tukuafu, T.J. Ward, Walter Thurmond, players like that. I feel like this summer, some players really stepped up — Jordan Holmes, Nate Costa, Casey Matthews, myself. Unsung heroes such as David Paulson. I feel like we have found our leaders for next season.”
Rob also previewed the receiver and tight end positions heading into the start of Fall Camp on August 9th.
On the receivers:
Justin Hoffman was the big story of spring ball at receiver, and he’s continued to play well in summer workouts. Respected as a blocker, he’s also put in the work to become a dependable receiver with good hands and requisite toughness. Hoffman is clearly the No. 4 receiver (behind Jeff Maehl-D.J. Davis & Lavasier Tuinei) entering camp.
On the tight ends:
At 6-foot-4, 241 pounds, [David] Paulson is up about 10 pounds from the spring, yet looks to be in the best shape of his career. He is arguably the most sure-handed receiver on the team, and among its most intelligent.
As summer drills wound down last week, a number of teammates cited [Brandon] Williams as among the players who showed the last two months that he’s ready to step up this fall.
