Duck Stuff: Morning Mud
• Rob Moseley reports that Oregon has landed another commitment. Three star, dual threat QB, Johnny Manziel (video from 2008 above) from Kerrville, TX. In this video he plays three different positions, QB, RB and receiver. He is 6'1", 193 lbs. and has a 4.53 40 time.
• While Oregon tends to recruit mostly south of the state, there is an increasing number of Canadian players turning up at football camps and it might be time to take a look at our northern neighbors.
R.J. Rico at the Oregonian reports that 14 Canadians were at the Oregon camp this year.
• Bob Clark shares a nice feature story from yesterdays R-G on how former Oregon head coach Rich Brooks is enjoying his retirement.
• The Heisman Pundit lists their top ten running backs for 2010 and LaMichael James comes in at number six.
James will sit out the first game due to suspension, but that won’t stop him from having another outstanding season. As a redshirt freshman in 2009, he rushed for 1,546 yards and 14 touchdowns while averaging nearly seven yards per carry. Like Rodgers, he is built very low to the ground, but he is more explosive in the open field and has the ability to take it downtown. If he gets his head on straight, he’ll have another highly-productive campaign.
