• Expansion stories continue to brew around the blogs from Ted Miller (just the facts) to George Schroeder (culture shock angle) to the guy who started it all, Chip Brown (Rivals Texas blogger). One date to keep your eye on is this Friday.
Nebraska holds the key according to Chip Brown, and they have until Friday to decide if they are committed to staying in the Big-12. We'll see what happens. It could be a wild ride.
• Ted Miller reports that Willie Glasper was picked up by the UFL's Sacramento team, along with some other former Pac-10 players.
Miller also ranks the Pac-10's toughest road schedules and has Oregon in the middle at #5.
This is a good reason to pause over making Oregon a clear favorite in the Pac-10. It plays its likely top-two rivals (USC and Oregon State) for the conference crown on the road. And Cal is certainly no patsy at home.
• A.J. Jacobson looks at the job Casey Martin is doing for Chip Kelly as the official uniform coordinator.
“Normally I have a rough draft for the year and have it all laid out game-by-game,” Martin explained. “I go into his (Chip's) office and we lay all the uniforms out and decide and then we go for it. It’s fun. We’re like two little kids. It’s a good time.
Looking forward to seeing what they chose for this year, football can't get here soon enough.
