Duck Stuff: Morning Mud

Rob Moseley shares a pair of stories that appeared in the R-G yesterday.

In the first article he says that the QB battle rages on between Nate Costa and Darron Thomas.

“We’re quite a bit ahead of where we were in the passing game,” offensive coordinator Mark Helfrich said. “There’s such wide-ranging factors of reasons why, but those guys have really been able to handle more than we’ve done at any point last season, so that’s a good thing. We’re happy with where we’re at that way. But now those guys need to transfer this out to what they can do by themselves throughout the summer and carry it into fall camp.”

Rob also had this UO Notebook talking about the military tributes, attendance, Rob Beard and Kenjon Barner. I liked this little quote from Nate Costa on the Duck tandem of LaMichael James and Kenjon Barner.

“Somebody’s going to have to come up with a tricky nickname for those guys,” Nate Costa said.

“They’re not thunder and lightning, they’re lighting and lightning. But you got to come up with something a little better than that, because those guys are incredible.”

Seems to me that, all things being equal, it would be best to go with the younger QB. That may not pay dividends fully in 2010, but it will in 2011 and 2012. The other thought I have is that with what should be an outstanding defense and core of RB's, Thomas can learn to pass during the year as there won't be a lot of pressure on him.

Good point blazer prophet...I think we might see a little of both QB's at the start of the season if one or the other hasn't made an impact at fall camp...the thing that scares me about Costa is his fragile the time Sept. rolls around it might be a moot point, hope that doesn't happen to him but his history proves otherwise...
