Duck Stuff: Morning Mud

• The NFL draft wrapped up yesterday and Walter Thurmond III was selected by the Seattle Seahawks.

Thurmond was the 13th pick of the fourth round, No. 111 overall. He’ll be reunited with former UO teammates and 2009 Seahawks draft picks Max Unger and Nick Reed.

LeGarrette Blount went undrafted but signed as a free agent with the San Francisco Forty Niners.

Blount, projected by some experts as a potential third-round pick before last season, was passed over during the seven-round NFL draft held Thursday through Saturday. He signed as a free agent with San Francisco, earning a lower signing bonus than he would have received as a draft pick.

• Adam Jude shares a feature story that appeared in the R-G yesterday which features three new recruits who were at practice on Friday.

In the middle of the field, three new faces took some of their first steps on an Oregon field. For a few minutes, anyway, the future of UO football appeared to be in good hands, if only because Curtis White’s were stinging red.

White, the Sheldon High School star tight end, spent about 30 minutes catching passes from his future quarterback, Bryan Bennett, who took snaps from his good friend and prep teammate Hroniss Grasu.

And after they graduate from high school, all three say they will be on hand in June to start classes and begin individual workouts with their teammates.

GO DUCKS!
