Halo The Movie

I haven't been to impressed with the video game to movie offerings that have come out so far (Doom, Lara Croft Tomb Raider) but this might just be the exception to the rule.

It was announced late last year that Peter Jackson has signed on to be Executive Producer for the 2007 release of Halo the movie. Along with Jackson comes the same team that brought us the fantastic Lord of the Rings Trilogy.

A good article on the news can be found at the BBC News website. Actors and the director are supposed to be announced anyday now for the live-actor/CGI film.

Halo-Fest...

Really looking forward to my little trip to Vancouver this weekend. Dave will be showing up on Sunday afternoon and we plan on putting the smack down on Chris & Jake. A little 2 on 2 Halo action.

Nothing better than the guys getting together for a little fun while the girls are out of town. Jolene gets to take a nice trip to Florida to watch her niece take part in a National cheerleading competition.

Google Video

Google has had this website up and running for quite sometime and they have tons of free offerings along with some items you can purchase. One of the things I don't like is that you have to use their video player.

Thank goodness for nerds. If you find a video, now you can take the link and put it into another website called KeepVid and choose for saving as an .avi file (compatible with Windows Media Player) or an MP4 file (IPod or Quicktime). Links are listed below.

Flowers & Kids

Must be spring. It was a glorious day here in Eugene, one of the reasons why we all live here. Took this photo of Will out in the front yard this afternoon, as you can tell he isn't camera shy. The original is at Flickr.

Looking For Lunch...

As most of you know we have several birdfeeders in the backyard. Just this afternoon this Cooper's Hawk stopped in to see what was on the menu. I didn't see him actually get any lunch but I am sure he will back, he stops in frequently for the finches. Full size photo at Flickr.

California 91 - Oregon 87 (2OT)

The Ducks unlikely run at the Pac-10 Tournament came to an end last night as they lost to the Bears in the semi-finals.

Coach Kent can be seen here in the 1st half extolling his players to save his job for just one more day.

Cal will face UCLA today in the finals.

Oregon 84 - Washington 73

The Ducks upset the Huskies last night at the Pac-10 Tournament in what had to be their best game of the year. Jordan Kent is seen here dunking the ball during the second half.

Chamberlain Oguchi scored all 22 of his points in the last 14 1/2 minutes. Malik Hairston had 20 points and Ivan Johnson matched his career high with 16 points and also had a career-best 10 rebounds for the Ducks.

Oregon will now face Standford tonight in the semi-finals.

Oregon 66 - Washington State 55

Jordan Kent is scrambling for a loose ball during the first half of last nights round 1 Pac-10 Tournament win for Oregon. Ernie has a job for another day. Hope he has that resume polished up.

Snow Day?

So Dave, do you get the day off due to the snow this morning? My deck was a little slushy this morning so I thought maybe you would luck out. Enjoy your day off if that's the way it turns out.

Camping III Update...

Chris has a meeting he can't get out of the first week in August. The camping trip has been rescheduled for Aug. 9-13 (Wed. - Sun.). I have adjusted my vacation request and thought everyone else would like to know.

And the winner is...

Last night was the Oscars...I hope everyone had a chance to enjoy the show. Jon Stewart, who is absolutely wonderful, hosted the show. It was entertaining the entire way through. Most of the winners weren't surprises, but some were.

Crash took home best picture last night, and I am so glad. In the end, Crash is a movie that I will remember much longer than Brokeback Mountain. It was so well acted, I just don't think it would have been possible to beat it. I am also excited about Reese Witherspoon winning best actress for her portrayal of June Carter Cash. It was a great performance. Phillip Seymour Hoffman beat out Joaquin Phoenix for best actor...both performances there were amazing as well.

Now, get out there and watch a few of these movies if you haven't seen them. They get nominated for these awards for great reasons!

The Vote is Final...

After carefully reviewing all ballots I have come up with the winner (or loser) of the Camp Bitch. Chuck, as Benevolent Supreme Being, gets to count his 1 single vote as 3.

Chris- 1 vote
Dave- 3 votes
Chuck- 4 votes

Disallowed because of hanging chads- 2 votes

Seems that the Camp Squirrel had the deciding vote!

3rd Annual Camping Trip

Today was the first day I could put in for time off in August. I will get Aug. 2-6 off (Wed-Sun). Just thought I would remind those that aren't as lucky as Dave to get your vacation time lined up ASAP for the big Camping Trip Version 3.
